Our strategy

Our growth strategy encompasses three key elements


 


Geographic expansion

We are expanding in high-growth markets such as China, India and Eastern Europe, where we have opened a number of new facilities and increased our market presence in recent years.


India Flag     Opened a new Power Transmission facility in Chennai to supply local customers and Fluid Power invested for increased manufacturing capacity in India.

China Flag     Seven facilities in China with the Gates Winhere pump business investing for increased manufacturing capacity. 

Organic growth
We are focused on growing our revenues organically through a combination of product innovation and technology. 


Schrader electronics     Doubled sales of our Schrader Electronics business in 2007 with the success of its remote tyre pressure monitoring systems and entered the North American aftermarket for this product.

Micro belts     Strong growth in our aftermarket business with products such as Micro-V® belts and tensioners, and grew globally by over 6.0% in 2007.


Strategic acquisitions
We are continually looking for bolt-on acquisitions that add value by creating synergies with our existing businesses, extending our product portfolio and expanding our geographic coverage. 


SSSL Mixed Signal Asics     Acquired Swindon Silicon Systems thereby accelerating Schrader Electronics' product development capability based on ASIC technology.


Caryaire Group     Formed a joint venture between ASC and Caryaire, a leading manufacturer and distributor of HVAC products in India.
